Mold in your home

3/22/2018 (Permalink)

Mold can get in your home through vents, doors, windows, and heating/air conditioning units. Also, mold can grow in places with a lot of moisture such as around leaks in the ceiling, pipes, windows, or where there was some flooding.

4 tips on how you can control mold growth in your home:

  1. Controlling the humidity levels in your home. Levels should be no higher than 50%. An air conditioner or dehumidifier will help you keep the level low.
  2. Use exhaust fans which vent outside your house in the kitchen and bathroom. Make sure your dryer vents outside your home as well.
  3. Immediately fix leaking windows, doors, and ceiling.
  4. Thoroughly cleaning up within 24-48 hours after a flood.

Mold growth can have a musty smell and be different colors. If you can see or smell the mold in your home, your health can be at risk.
